Carl RobinsonFor publishers, content is at the heart of every conversation with business partners – and with their authors and readers, too. Since its acquisition by Copyright Clearance Center earlier this year, Ixxus now goes far beyond traditional Enterprise Content Management (ECM), a market expected to grow to more than $9.4 billion by 2018.

“Publishers today need to get smart with content, and get smart about it as well,” Carl Robinson, Ixxus senior consultant, tells CCC’s Chris Kenneally. “For starters, it’s time to think ‘outside the book’ and move beyond page constraints, to think in chunks of granular content and to think about how to combine and re-use that content.”

Carl Robinson has been in publishing since 1995 and has worked for Pearson Education, Macmillan Education and Oxford University Press. At Ixxus, Carl’s focus is upon helping clients look at business vision, goals and strategies around their content and tooling to enable flexibility and readiness to meet the ever-changing demands of the digital market.

Robinson spoke on Wednesday at the 2016 Frankfurt Book Fair as part of programming organized by Publishing Perspectives.
