The list of things we take for granted is a long one. And then, something happens to remind us of what matters most.

Of course, it’s the people who matter. In the swirl of activity that takes up our waking hours – from home to work and back – we encounter and interact with many people. In this special edition of our program, we want to tell you important news about one man – Mark Dressler — who means a great deal to everyone at Beyond the Book. And we want to invite you to join us in helping Mark as he fights colon cancer.

Following an operation last month, Mark Dressler is now beginning a round of chemotherapy. “Healing from the surgery continues nicely,” reports Mark, who served as BookExpo America’s education director from 1998 to 2011. “I have returned to an active lifestyle including swimming, skiing and throwing the ball to Bella – small things that once were taking for granted. I remain resolute, upbeat and positive.”

As medical care costs mount in Mark’s fight to “kick cancer’s ass,” friends and colleagues have created an online fundraiser to support. You can join the many who have already contributed by clicking here.

All our best wishes to Mark, and our thanks to you,
